Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we get asked most. If yours is not here, email us at info@removawaste.co.uk.

Getting a quote

How do I get a quote?

Fill in the quote form on our home page. Tell us what needs to go, where it is, which floor, and when you would like us, and add photos. We will reply with a price. You can also call or text us on 07903 643427 or email info@removawaste.co.uk.

Why do you ask for photos?

Photos let us see exactly what we are taking and how easy it is to reach, so the price is accurate without us having to visit first. Pictures of everything to be removed, plus the route out (stairs, narrow doors, the parking spot), help most.

Is the quote free?

Yes. Quotes are free and there is no obligation to book.

How quickly will I hear back?

We aim to reply as soon as we can during our opening hours (Monday to Saturday, 8:30am to 6pm). Requests sent outside those hours will be answered when we are next open.

How much does rubbish removal cost?

It depends on how much there is, what it is, how hard it is to reach (floor, stairs, lift, parking) and how it has to be disposed of. That is why we price from your photos instead of quoting a number in the air. The price we give you is confirmed before we start.

Can the price change on the day?

Only if the job turns out to be materially different from the photos and description, for example there is more waste than shown or it is harder to reach. We will tell you before we start and you can accept the new price or cancel with no charge for the collection.

Booking and the day itself

What days and times do you work?

Monday to Saturday, 8:30am to 6pm. We do not collect on Sundays. When you book we agree a date and a time slot with you.

Which areas do you cover?

We cover all of London: every one of the 32 London boroughs and the City of London. You can see the full list on our home page. If you are just outside London, ask us and we will let you know.

Do I need to be there?

Someone needs to be able to give us access and show us what is to go. If you cannot be there, tell us in advance and give clear instructions, for example in your quote request.

Do you take items from inside the property, or from upstairs?

Yes. We carry items out from inside, including from upper floors. Let us know the floor, whether there is a lift, and any stairs or narrow access when you request a quote, because it affects the time the job takes.

Do I need to arrange parking?

Please make sure we can park close by. If there are restrictions, permits or a suspension needed, tell us when you ask for the quote so we can plan for it.

Can I change or cancel my booking?

Yes. Changes and cancellations are free up to 24 hours before your slot. After that we may charge a reasonable call-out fee. The full details are in our Terms of Service.

How do I pay?

Payment is normally due when the job is finished. We will confirm the payment methods we accept when we confirm your booking.

What we take

What kind of waste do you take?

Most household and light commercial waste: furniture, mattresses, sofas, garden waste, general clearance and similar items. List everything on the quote form so we can price it.

What can't you take?

We cannot take asbestos, chemicals, paint, solvents, gas bottles, medical or clinical waste, explosives or other hazardous materials without agreeing it with you in writing beforehand. The full list is in our Terms of Service. If you are unsure about something, ask us first.

Do you take electrical items and appliances?

Usually yes, but some items such as fridges and freezers need special handling. Mention them on the quote form so we can price and plan for them.

Do you clear a whole property?

Yes, from single items up to larger clearances. Send photos of each room or area so we can give you an accurate price.

Where it goes

Where does my rubbish go?

To permitted waste sites. Where we reasonably can, items are reused or recycled. We can give you a waste transfer note for your job on request.

How can I check a waste carrier is registered?

Anyone who carries waste for others must be registered with the Environment Agency. You can check any carrier on the public register of waste carriers, brokers and dealers on GOV.UK. We recommend asking for the registration number before you hire anyone. Remova Waste is registered as an upper tier waste carrier, registration number CBDU671053, which is shown at the bottom of every page of this website. You can search for it on the register.

Why is there a risk in hiring an unregistered carrier?

If your waste is fly-tipped, you can be held responsible and fined, even if someone else dumped it. That is why it is worth checking the carrier and keeping your paperwork.
